The first edition of the WMRA Long Distance Mountain Running Championships was incorporated into the Sierre-Zinal race in Switzerland on August 8th.

Billy Burns gained an excellent bronze medal, in what was his 5th consecutive podium finish at the Sierre-Zinal race. Billy was well supported by John Brown in 8th and Tim Short in 9th. This gave the English runners the second team placing behind Switzerland.
