Details

Getting There & Car Parking

Race HQ will be located in the car park on Wells Road, Ilkley. GR SE117472 (see map below). If you want to enter a postcode into your SatNav, LS29 9JE is the nearest. Please park in this car park; once it is full, use Wells Road and adjoining streets (but show consideration for local residents: we don’t want to antagonise them!)

Facilities

These will be basic! There are no changing or showering facilities available, toilets will be at White Wells about 200m from the start.

Race Registration

Registration will be held in the Darwin Gardens Car Park from 1030.

Do not give your number to anyone else. Please complete emergency contact and any medical details on the back of your number.

The Route (See Map Below)

The Fell Race will start and finish on Keighley Road, about half a mile from Race HQ. The route is multi-terrain over rough rocky tracks, heathery paths and approximately one mile of road up the back of the moor. The forest section is interesting and adds nice variety but take care as there are, not un-naturally, tree roots which are often slippery when wet. The little wooden bridges in the forest are also often slippery, especially when wet. Note the new clearance on the second section of forest, this path can be a bit tricky with old tree roots.

First Aid

There will be first aid posts at the Start/Finish and at Whetstone Gate (the mast at the top of the hill). If you see someone injured please offer help, if they don’t need it then report the incident to the nearest marshal.

Water/Beer

There will be refreshment on the course (water) at Whetstone Gate and water and a bottle of beer for all finishers at the finish.

Road Sections

There are no road closures so please allow any traffic to pass, particularly as you gather at the start. By the time the trail runners reach the road section at Bradup everyone should be reasonably spaced, however please be aware of vehicles moving to and from the mast.

If you drop out please report to the finish to let everyone know so we don’t have to call out Mountain rescue.

Prize giving & Results

There will be prizes for the first 3 men and ladies for both routes, plus prizes in the MV40, MV50, MV60, FV35, FV45 & FV55 categories (number of prizes per category will depend on the number of entries). Only 1 prize per runner. The prize giving will take place at the registration tent around 1pm
