Results of the first ever Churn Milk Chase, 13/06/2009

Records Men Adam Breaks 24.24 Women Clare Hanson 32.05

Thank you all for coming to the first ever Churn Milk Chase, the Community thanks you all for your contribution towards the purchase of our shop!

I wasn’t quite sure how good the race was going to be, but I knew that it would be short, sharp and quick. Adam and Clare have set great course records, which will I hope be hard to beat. Conditions were almost perfect, just a little too hot I feel. I have a couple of apologies to make, the route across the heather does follow a footpath, honest, it is quite tricky to find it! Next year you can find your own route back from Crow Hill to the lane! (I’ll still flag it though!) I was told that Timothy Taylors had donated prizes; I kind of assumed it meant plenty of beer, but it wasn’t, so we’ll get bigger and better prizes next year!

Finally my thanks must go to the following: Ben and Will for flagging and sweeping, Johnnie for taking numbers on Crow Hill, and also to all the Midgley residents who helped marshal. Also thanks to Dick, and Carla on registration and results, my long suffering wife Rebecca, also on reg and timing, Bill for all the advice and encouragement, Rod for helping me find the stores, and last but no means least all the landowners who gave permission for the race, especially as there are quite a few at this time of year!

There will be a race next year, but at present no fete, so parking should not be an issue, so we hope to get many more runners! Until then, then…
