The Race - Important Information
The Junior Inter-Counties race for 2024 will be the Rossendale on June 9th, organised by Graham Wright. Enter here.
A plea to all County team managers (and parents acting as team managers!). If you haven't already done so, could you please send Race Organiser Graham Wright the list of runners representing your County on or before the closing date of Sunday 2nd June. The more information prior to the day the easier and quicker the results will be processed.
You will be allowed to make changes to your declarations after this date but only if the runners involved have already entered the race. If you have reserves in mind please make sure they enter before the closing date. The Rossendale race is also one of the English Junior Championship races - runners can represent their county and also score club and individual points in the English Championships.
Race referee - Gareth Hardcastle
Information
In order to compete in the Inter-Counties runners have to be selected by their County or region. Many Counties/Regions publish details of the arrangements, including the selection races they will use to pick their team for the event. County or Region Athletics Associations are listed on the England Athletics Counties Athletics Union page. Juniors who require further information on the race (for example how to contact the relevant County Secretary/Team Manager) – contact FRA Junior Co-ordinator ([email protected]).
The Junior British Inter-Counties Hill and Fell Championships are organised by the FRA on behalf of the UK Counties Athletics Union. As an Inter-Counties competition they follow the UKA 'Rules for Competition', including the criteria for eligibility for a county or region. The Senior competition is organised by the Mountain Running Advisory Group (MRAG) of British Athletics.
The Inter-Counties has it's own website, giving information on both the Junior and Senior competitions. In particular the rules applying to the Junior event can be found on that site at this link. In particular please note that county vests MUST be worn to be eligible for the Inter-Counties competition. (When the event is held in conjunction with a Junior English Championship event the County vest should be worn, rather than the club vest).
