Announcement: Closure of the Fell Runners Association Forum

After careful consideration, the Fell Runners Association has made the decision to close its online forum. This decision was not taken lightly, as the forum has been a longstanding space for discussions and connection within the fell running community. However, several compelling reasons have led us to conclude that its continued operation is no longer viable.

Firstly, maintaining the forum has become increasingly challenging due to the need to ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards which is critical for any web-based platform. When a forum operates in violation of privacy laws, copyright regulations, or other legal standards, its existence poses risks to both users and the FRA. The resources required to manage these issues effectively outweigh the benefits.

Secondly, the forum has seen a very noticeable decline in activity and engagement. With very few members participating actively and discussions stagnating, it no longer serves as the vibrant hub it once was. As the digital landscape evolves, alternative platforms are proving to be more suitable for fostering interaction and community building.

Finally, the closure of the forum allows us to reallocate limited volunteer time toward the other methods of communication and engagement, including the Fellrunner magazine, FRA website and Facebook, enabling us to better meet the needs of all of our members and ensure continued support for the fell running community.

The forum will officially close to new posts and new users today. We sincerely thank all users who have contributed to it over the years. The Forum will remain as a searchable resource for the present. Future solutions for access to archived discussion threads will be communicated at a later date.
