Howgills Junior FRA Championships - update

Helm Hill is looking forward to putting on the first race of the FRA Junior Champs series in Sedbergh on Saturday 9 May, kindly sponsored by Pete Bland Sports and Bridgedale.

There are a few changes to the race this year...
- The age-group changes has allowed us to tweak the routes slightly (see map below). This year we are starting the U10s & U12s up the track nearer the fell. This will allow them to get onto the fell (U12s go to the top of Winder), and finish back down in Lupton Fields. U14s to U20s start in Lupton Fields as usual. Race routes
- Registration will open at 10am. Because the race is on a Saturday this year, we can't use the classroom at Sedbergh school (as lessons will be taking place). Registration will be in a tent near the start/finish. Toilets and refreshments in the usual places.
- Registration will close at 11am for U10 and U12 races, and first race (U10) will start at 11:30. This leaves us enough time to walk to the race start up the track with the junior(s). Instructions on where to go will be given at registration and signposted.
- Parking will be £2 this year, with all proceeds going to Kirkby Stephen MRT (who are providing first aid on race day).
- Once again the race is being used as a qualifier for the U18 Mountain Running Cup (21 June 2026 in Gagliano del Capo, Italy).
