England International Mountain Running 2017

England Mountain Running Championships (Seniors and U20)

This event will be held in conjunction with the British Athletics trial for the European Mountain Running Championships (uphill only) on 4 June 2017.

Representative opportunities:

The committee will select the best available teams to represent England, although where shown some teams will be selected as development teams to give them experience of international competition.

All events in 2017 are subject to funding and England Athletics may amend the policies at any point. Details will be posted on the England Athletics website.

Selectors view trials as the primary means of selecting the teams. Where there is no trial or an athlete is unable to compete in the trial race, it is the athlete’s responsibility to provide the Chair of Selectors, Anne Buckley ([email protected]) with details of all performances they wish to be considered at the selection meeting. This information must be provided in advance of the trial race where there is one or before the advertised selection date.

Athletes will usually be informed of their selection within a week of the trial and/or deadline for expressions of interest.

Selection of all athletes is subject to the agreement of the athlete’s training and racing programme between the date of selection and the representative race by the committee.

Athletes wishing to be selected for races abroad are expected to have a valid UK passport. The selection committee reserves the right to de-select any athlete who does not provide all the information requested (including passport details) within a week of selection.

For all races, if the selectors believe that a minimum performance standard for selection has not been achieved, they reserve the right not to select a full team. We do not intend to send teams to international events composed of athletes who have not demonstrated the level of performance required.

Event:	Senior Home International (included in British Athletics trial for the World Mountain Running Championships),
Date:	18 June 2017
Selection Date:	13 May 2017
Trial:	Inter-Counties Fell Race, Broughton, Scotland 13 May.
Team Composition:	Up to 4 senior men, 2 under 23 men, 4 senior women and 2 under 23 women. NB. There will only be an A team. Under 23 athletes are defined as born in 1995 – 1997 inclusive. The quota of 4 senior athletes may include Under 23 athletes if more than two are selected.
Selection Details:	The first 3 senior men, 3 senior women, 1 U23 man and 1 U23 woman will gain selection from the Inter-Counties Fell Race (subject to performances being of an appropriate standard) with the remaining places to be decided by the selectors.

Event:	International Youth Cup, Gagliano del Capo, Italy.
Date:	24 June 2017
Selection Date:	28th May 2017
Trial:	Hutton Roof Fell Race 27th May 2017
Team Composition:	Up to 4 junior men and 4 junior women (born within the years 2000/2001. Younger athletes are not eligible.) Selection Details: The first 3 junior men and 3 junior women will gain selection from the trial race with the remaining places to be decided by the selectors.

Event:	Snowdon International, Llanberis, Wales
Date:	15 July 2017
Selection Date:	19 June 2017
Trial:	Trial for British Athletics team for World Championships, 18 June 2017
	AND
	Tebay Fell Race (British and English Championship race), 17 June 2017
Team Composition:	4 senior men and 4 senior women
Selection Details:	The first 1 senior man and 1 senior woman in the World Championships trial who are not selected for GB for the World Championships AND the first 1 senior man and 1 senior woman in the Tebay Fell Race will gain selection with the remaining places to be decided by the selectors.

Event:	Junior Home International, Peebles, Scotland
Date:	16 September 2017
Selection Date:	27 August 2017
Trial:	26 or 27 August 2017
Team Composition:	4 U20 men and 4 U20 women (age at 31 December 2017 – this includes athletes born in 1998, 1999 and 2000), 4 U17 boys and 4 U17 girls (age at 31 December 2017 – this includes athletes born in 2001 and 2002). Subject to appropriate standards second development teams may be selected in all age groups using the trial as the primary means of selection.
Selection Details:	U20: The first athlete from the FRA U19 Championships and the first 2 athletes from the trial race will be selected with the remaining places to be decided by the selectors. U17: The first athlete from the FRA U17 Championships and the first 2 athletes from the trial race will be selected with the remaining places to be decided by the selectors.

Event:	U23 Development Races

Hochfelln Mountain Race, Germany, 24 September 2017 (uphill only) Smarna Gora Mountain Race, Slovenia, 7 October 2017 (up and down) Selection Date:30 July 2017 Team Composition:Up to 10 athletes in total (mix men/women) Trial:British Athletics Trials for European and World Mountain Running Championships, 4 and 18 June 2017 Selection Details:Athletes who have performed at a high standard in the British Athletics World and European Trials but have not been selected for the GB team are eligible for places. GB mountain running vest in 2016 or 2017 Top 10 in Junior Home International in 2016 Top 10 English Schools, National or Inter-Counties Cross Country Top 6 in Area Cross Country Performances of similar standard to the above – please ask!
