2027 Junior Champs races & consultation

Good to see many of you in Settle. I thought Jess and Settle Harriers did a super job and the Victoria Hall was a great venue. We will be looking for a different hill and venue to do the race and presentation in 2027, just to rotate things round. Please shout if your club fancies it!

 

I made a few announcements at the presentation:

 

 

Mon 3 May - Coiners, nr Mytholmroyd

Sun 16 May - Howgills (Cumbria Junior Fell Championships) 

Sat 22 May - Esk Valley (Junior Inter-Counties Championship race)

Sun 6 Jun - Bingley 

Sun 13 Jun - Ennerdale

Sun 27 Jun (TBC) - Whinlatter 

 

The race entries and series entries will go on sale before end of year and we'll alert everyone then.

 

Venues for the International U18 Mountain Running Cup trial and U16 & U18 Junior Home International trial will be announced in due course. 

 

During October, we’d like your views on two potential changes to the FRA Junior Championships:

I’ve already received some thoughtful input on both proposals, so thank you. Please keep your comments coming to [email protected]. We’d also welcome views from the young runners themselves.

The consultation will remain open until 31 October. We’ll appoint a small committee to review the feedback and recommend a way forward, subject to input from UKA.

Please let me know if you’d like to suggest someone for the committee. Parents’ views will be an important part of the decision-making process, but the FRA Committee's preference is for the final decision to sit with people who do not currently have children competing in junior fell running (including me), so those making it have no direct personal stake in the outcome.
